College Access and Success for Youth with Experience in Foster Care - February 8, 2023
Youth with experience in foster care face many obstacles on the road to and through college. Many of these students struggle with homelessness, food insecurity, effects of trauma, educational instability, and lack of family and network support while trying to attend classes and persist. Educators and professionals on college campuses have an opportunity to provide increased stability, local resources, and direct support to students so they can meet their educational goals. This webinar will share best practices when working with youth who have experienced foster care and provide an opportunity to ask questions to learn more!

Strategies to Support Students who are Out-of-workforce or Experiencing Homelessness - November 10, 2022
Since beginning to collect data about students who are experiencing homelessness, Rock Valley College has seen a significant increase in the number of students who self-identify as having unreliable housing. Whether this has been an undocumented challenge or whether we are seeing aftereffects of Covid, we realized that we needed to work together - across campus and in our community - to improve our support for these vulnerable students. Anna Wandtke, Perkins Coordinator, and Rose Goodloe, Personal & Success Counselor and Homeless Liaison for Rock Valley College speak about their efforts to support students who are out-of-workforce or experiencing homelessness.
